What a great location! We really enjoyed our time at the Mission Bay RV Resort. With immediate access to beaches and parkland along the bay, what more could we want? All hook-ups worked well. There is no store on site, or pool (you can go to the sister property Campland, about a 1 mile drive for nice amenities). We loved the waterfront site. However if shade is important, there are numerous trees on the non-waterfront sites. It is a quiet place, and there is sufficient room to easily navigate... Read More

We are new to the RV experience so don't have comparisons. However, this park is clean, quiet, has dependable hook-ups, is located in a great area of San Diego close to fun beaches, Old Town, and convenient to Mission Bay activities, etc. Staff is friendly, neighbors have all been respectful, family friendly, public restrooms adequate and CLEAN. Already a repeat visitor. RECOMMEND!

If you're reading conflicting reviews about this park, it's because we all enjoy different flavors. It seems like a lot of folks spend most of their time in their RV and/or their site. If that's the case for you, I could see where you could be disappointed. Like others have said, it is primarily an asphalt parking lot with a decent amount of trees, but the sites are narrow and don't have much privacy. On the other hand, if you travel to explore and spend most of your time out doing things, then... Read More

Like others have said, it is primarily an asphalt parking lot with a decent amount of trees, but the sites are narrow and don't have much privacy. On the other hand, if you travel to explore and spend most of your time out doing things, then this park could be a good fit. It is part of a mixed-use concept that is owned by the City of San Diego and operated by a private enterprise. I think that explains why people rate the staff better than the facilities. The front desk staff, food truck staff, maintenance team, and security guards are excellent. However, the city doesn't seem to have a grip on their long-term plans, so the facilities have been allowed to decay. For whatever reason, the abandoned mobile homes don't seem to bother us. In fact, not sure we would want that many more people fighting for parking and using the walking/biking paths. There is a 1 mile pedestrian road that goes around the outer boundaries of the park that campers are still allowed to use. Many of the homes are still there, although some have been sold and moved out. Surprisingly, there is no graffiti or signs of vandalism - a testament to a job well-done by security and the RV community. Bottom Line: If you have bikes, you will love this place. Miles and miles of bike paths that go all around Mission Bay Park and even connect you to the Boardwalk on the beach (14 miles round trip). It is also easy to get into the happening scene of Pacific Beach's restaurants and bars through some residential streets. We stayed here in a 30 Class A motorhome during the offseason and paid $1,500 for a month in a Bay View space. We will definitely be back.

The bathrooms are not very well maintained but do get cleaned daily. There is free WiFi but it is spotty. On the plus side the security people and other staff are super friendly and helpful. We $40 per night on a monthly rate.

This was our first RV Park experience before purchasing our Coachman Prism. The results were mixed. We brought our adult son and 2 grandsons in a rented 30 foot C class. First the good. You're on the Bay in San Diego! There's a beach, pull up a chair or float in the water. What's not to like? The park itself was tight, but with a picnic table and a swath of grass and trees. Good enough. We like the happy community feel of RV ing. The staff seemed nice, but were far from the park and gone when we... Read More

Good enough. We like the happy community feel of RV ing. The staff seemed nice, but were far from the park and gone when we arrived a little late. However, the security guard was ready with our check-in, so we were in our space in no time. Now the not so good. The bathrooms / showers seemed old, and hot and cold was dicey at best. And the price seemed very high. We have since stayed at much nicer RV parks at half the price. Southern California, what can you say? Lastly. this was the weird part. Mission Bay RV park is completely surrounded by a completely DESERTED moble home park. Most of the homes are completely intact and were once beautiful expensive homes right on the bay. Makes for a very eerie walk around the area.

The facility is fine, but their customer service (or lack of) is frustrating. We were traveling with another family and requested to be next to this family many months ago. I tried calling and e-mailing follow-ups to this request, but they don't answer the phone or respond to correspondence. When I get there, they put us two sites away from our friends. We were in sites 21 and 23. While setting up, we found out that the people in 20 and 22 also requested to be next to each other, but were placed... Read More

I tried calling and e-mailing follow-ups to this request, but they don't answer the phone or respond to correspondence. When I get there, they put us two sites away from our friends. We were in sites 21 and 23. While setting up, we found out that the people in 20 and 22 also requested to be next to each other, but were placed two sites apart. We were all staying for the same length of time. I believe they did this solely because we didn't pay the extra $35 for the site guarantee. This was so very silly and lazy of the registration team. It would have been very simple to accommodate this very normal request. Additionally, while swimming in the bay, I sliced my foot on something (many people had glass bottles on the beach and there were pipes found in the water). It resulted in a trip to the ER and six stitches on the bottom of my foot. Finally, when we were leaving, the people next to us did something to dump sewage all over their site (TP and fecal matter). They simply hosed it to the back of the site and didn't call the front office for disinfectant. As someone who travels with small kids who like to play in the dirt, this was so very disgusting. We did inform the security guards, who said they'd go and check it out. This isn't something wrong with the campground, but a reminder to all campers. Do the right thing and get things cleaned up properly. I know you can end up paying a fee sometimes, but think about the kids who could get sick if you don't.

We just finished up a 2-night stay at Mission Bay and overall were pretty pleased. The spaces are small and it was really packed, but each spot came with a picnic table and they had full hookups with 50amp. We were in spot 4 and our wifi connection was fantastic. We were able to stream TV shows without a problem. The location is really great. This is a great place for kids.. there were tons of them running around on bikes, scooters, and longboards having a blast. At least at our location on lot 4 it seemed people observed the quiet hours of 10pm-8am. Staff was friendly and the expedited online check/in was easy and appreciated.

The location of this park is great. Right on Mission Bay and attached to the wonderful park. The Resort itself is tired. The restrooms are dated, but clean. The resort is basically a parking lot and the spaces while wide, are right on top of each other. We have been traveling around the country for four months and this is the first time we have been charged for an extra car and the car must be parked in an outside lot. Finally, the internet is practically non existent. I was told they are in... Read More

Maybe that will change. Bottom line...not sure if we would stay here again.

We booked 4 nights during the week to go site seeing in the San Diego area. Checking in was quick and the staff was friendly. We were advised of our site location and proceed to the site. The park was full of different types of Million dollar Class A to pull trailers. Road was narrow and I had to ask one of the vacationers to move their vehicle to avoid hitting their truck.... Read More

The park was full of different types of Million dollar Class A to pull trailers. Arriving at our site I noticed a large tree on the side of the site that I would have to maneuver around while backing in. Road was narrow and I had to ask one of the vacationers to move their vehicle to avoid hitting their truck. After a couple of times we set up our 5th wheel and hooked up. The site had water electric and sewer, but no cable hook up. WiFi was slow and we kept getting kicked out and had to reconnect several times each day. The bathrooms were old and dirty. The showers were semi private and old. The water temperature fluctuated as other faucets were turned on. The laundry area was clean, but 2 of the 4 dryers were out of order so we had to wait. Security at the gate were doing their part in checking anyone wanting to get into the campground. The location was great right next to the bay area with a trail for walking or riding a bike. The surrounding area is a vacant mobile home park which makes for an eerie site. Overall we were not impressed with this RV Resort and when back in the this area we will find other RV locations to stay.

We arrived a few hours early and were told to return at 2:00 PM the posted check in time. Even though I had a reservation and the space I was to park was open; the answer was still "come back at 2:00 PM". I and the several other folks who had also arrived a bit early hung around in the parking lot and eventually we were "allowed" to register at about 12:30 PM. The road in is littered with speed bumps and drainage dips. Some dips are so deep my bike rack scraped on the back of my SUV. Surface drainage... Read More

The road in is littered with speed bumps and drainage dips. Some dips are so deep my bike rack scraped on the back of my SUV. Surface drainage for storm water runoff. The park is mostly paved and has a nice open feel about it. The spaces are all dead level and the streets are very wide so driving inside the park and parking is safe and easy. The park has a 24 hour guard at the front gate too. Evenings were quiet except for small barking dogs left in trailers while their owners went out to party. Not worth complaining about but worth mentioning on a review. Full hookups were well located and worked well. Nice picnic tables between the sites. Trash is picked up on a regular basis and dumpsters are available. Cardboard recycling is available but can/plastic/glass is not (that we could find)! Odd. Note: This park sits on land that is leased from the city. The mobile home park nearby is being closed and the residents are resisting eminent domain proceedings being brought by the city of San Diego. This makes the area around the RV park appear run down. The RV park will close too eventually.

this place has 2 restrooms, but only one has ADA comp toilet for men. Don't they realize 2005 is long over and they can be sued for non compliance?! I would not recommend this place or stay here again. There is a much nicer facility just another half mile up the road... Read More
