Just very over crowded Ick! Expensive, constant road noise, kids running amok, bathrooms used to be clean, mini golf a run down joke, sewer leaking into the cedar river. No alcohol license, bur some young kid, not old enough to drink, selling alcohol. Very expensive, trashy , and spaces so close you can not put out your awning.

We were very dissatisfied with this campground and feel Good Sam needs to change their rating. It is located about a mile down a dusty white rock access road and sits along interstate 80. The sound is constant all day and night. It is right before the Cedar River bridge so the semi trucks hitting the uneven surface makes it louder. The office/shower house sits atop a very steep hill which is a pain to get to. The mini golf and playground are very old and broke. The pool was nice and clean. Most... Read More

Most of the sites are back to back and you are very close to one another. The sites are grass and not level. There is another section further back that has the seasonal campers. Very strong winds had come thru a few days before we got there and the sites hadn't been cleaned up. The fire pit was full of garbage and we had to move it. The picnic table was old and damaged. We stayed our three days was glad to leave. The bathroom and shower house was clean each time we used them. I would not recommend this campground to anyone looking for a place to relax.

We were registered for 3 days. Left after 1 night. Firepit was unusable not able to cook on. Thought we had full hook up. Nope on grass. Campers ontop of each other. We will not be back. Cant believe this is a good sams recommendation. Very misleading on website. All you hear is the I-80 traffic.

This campground is actually located right next to Route 80 at a point where a highway down grade meets an uneven bridge transition, and the noise from eighteen wheelers impacting that transition at 70+ mph is constant and horrific. The noise continues day and night, and you can actually feel each impact, particularly when you're trying to sleep. The showers are at the top of a fairly steep hill and not easily accessed. This is a campground that I would not recommend to anyone, and Good Sam should... Read More

We made reservations based on Good Sam rating. Unfortunately, the campground wasn't up to par with rating. Had to traverse over a mile of dusty dirt road to get there, then tried 4 sites, each of which my Class A motor home could not get level on without wheels off the ground. Sites we tried (all that were available) were simply not level. Eventually gave up, received refund (woman in office was very nice) and went to another park 30+ miles away. This park is overrated by Good Sam...probably... Read More

I live at this campground all summer long. I have a permanent camp site for the year. We have a great campground with a pool, miniature golf, golf carts, river to fish in. We have a great activity director that makes it fun for the whole family. Could not ask for nicer people to have as owners. Gloria and Marty are here the most but their whole family helps out. Come join us for some great summer fun.

My family has camped in the permanant side of the grounds for 11years. Very family friendly place and a great home away from home! Everyone looks out for others and its the same for those that join us on the "weekender side". Bathrooms are always clean. Kids love put put golf. The park always has kids playing. We are excited for the pool to be back up and running as it was unfortunately down last year due to circumstances beyond the current owners control. This park has been ran by very family... Does it need a little grounds keeping sometimes? Yes! We are excited to kick off yet another year at Hunts Cedar River campground!!

I came for a weekend and stayed. There were plenty of things for my kids to do although the pool wasn't open yet because of the weather, which is understandable. The bathrooms were very clean and the showers were some of the best I have ever been to. The playground kept the kids entertained forever and the feel of the grounds was that of a small community. Quiet hour was strictly enforced and one of the family members patrolled the grounds throughout the night making me feel safe. I never had a... Read More

We were coming to IA for a family birthday party and decided to make a weekend out of it and camp. I looked online for campground nearby, and found this one. Being that it was a Good Sam campground, I assumed it would be nice. We arrived on Friday night around 8:30 p.m. - I had called around 7 to make sure that it would be ok that we were arriving late, and was told it was fine. Nobody was in the office when we arrived, so we decided to find our own site (we hadn't booked a specific site)....

Nobody was in the office when we arrived, so we decided to find our own site (we hadn't booked a specific site). The owner found us and proceeded to tell us that we really didn't have a reservation and had been a victim of credit card fraud because when we booked the reservation at the end of July, the campground was being run by someone else who took our reservation but didn't pay the owners. He told us that we would need to call the sheriff's office and file a report and then get the money back from our credit card company. That was not a great way to start off our weekend. On Saturday, we left the campground around 11 a.m. to go to the family birthday party 30 minutes away. We locked the camper when we left. We were gone for the majority of the day, and arrived back at the campground around 8:30 p.m. When we tried to unlock one of the doors, the key would not go into the lock. We made several attempts, and then unlocked the other door at the back of the camper to enter. I tried manually unlocking the front door from inside, and it was jammed. We were so concerned that someone had tried breaking into our camper that we left that night and drove 4 hours home that night! So disappointed with this campground and the experience that we had! In addition to all of this, they are right off of Interstate 80, and the road noise is awful. I don't know why anyone would stay at this campground! Good Sam, you should take your name off of this campground!

Absolute worst campground we ever stayed in. No water in the pool, no one in office, no map of campground at office, noise from I-80 was horrendous and the dust was terrible. I cannot believe that this is a Good Sam campground!!

We booked this stop because it was on the way and was rated at 8.5-8.5-8 in GS. We pulled in from I-80 and the lady was very nice and welcoming, but it went downhill from there. She also told us that she was selling the campground at the end of the month. When we pulled down to the camp the road was terrible with mostly broken asphalt and dirt with huge potholes you couldn't miss. The campsites are rustic (which is being generous), mostly grass, unleveled, with weeds around all the utilities.... Read More

She also told us that she was selling the campground at the end of the month. When we pulled down to the camp the road was terrible with mostly broken asphalt and dirt with huge potholes you couldn't miss. The campsites are rustic (which is being generous), mostly grass, unleveled, with weeds around all the utilities. Campers are staggered in and out so we ended up facing door to door with another camper (who was very nice BTW) instead of having our own space to relax. When they built their nightly campfire, we had a campfire also whether we wanted one or not. Also our row of camp sites was perhaps 100 yards (really) from the very busy I-80, so you had LOUD heavy traffic noise 24/7 despite the wooden sound fence that was between you and the road. This camp seemed to be populated with local campers that knew each other and were looking for a place to party; and only a few RVers that were traveling and stopping for the night. Late night parties with huge bonfires and no enforcement of quiet time rules made it far from relaxing. We did not go into the showers or restrooms, but the pool seemed clean and was used by several people. The mini golf course was not open and looked to need repairs. The Cedar river nearby is very nice, but everything we owned was covered in a new layer of dust daily from the roads. With a change of ownership, this park needs a great deal of upgrading and repair to the facilities and roads. Nothing can be done about the noise however. RVer beware.

I only have two positive things to say about this campground. One is the close distance to I-80(which also is a disadvantage) and two the woman checking me in was nice. The place was filthy the road to get to the sights were gravel and our Jeep got filthy. The srinking water was brown and so much sediment clogged our water filter and check valve for water heater. Vegatation was unkept and the showers were very far away. The bathrooms were filthy Good sams should be ashamed of themselves We have... Read More

The location of the campground was a blessing and a curse. It is right on the Cedar River and is beautiful. However, the RV sites are right on the other side of the fence of I-80 and the noise from traffic was constant all night long.
