No hesitation giving Rio Verde RV Park five stars! Rio Verde RV Park is the best in the Cottonwood area! The park is immaculate, well-maintained, and managed. Large, mature shade trees with spacious and level spots for any size RV. After looking at different parks in the area, my opinion is Rio Verde is at the top of the list. Being close to the 89A, we still found it quiet. Laundromat, showers and restrooms are clean with easy access. Pet friendly with many walk options. Our stay was so pleasant,... Read More

Our stay was so pleasant, we decided to extend and continue to explore the area. Christine, who manages the office and reservations, goes out of her way to ensure your reservations and helps solves any issues. The owner, Andy, is on site and easily available to answer questions or address any concerns. We have found this be a good central base location for exploring Northern Arizona. The location is close to Old Town, Dead Horse State Park, the municipal dog park, and shopping. Not only that, but there are also, various levels of hiking trails that can be accessed behind the park. Rio Verde RV Park is just miles to the natural beauty of Sedona. If you are in the Cottonwood area, we recommend Rio Verde for your RV stay.

This park is an older park but management is doing a lot of renovations. There are plenty of shaded sites. Most sites have a patio. New stone has been added to all the sites which looks great. The Verde River is along side the park and is easily accessible. The location of Rio Verde RV Park is very convenient for taking advantage of all the outdoor activities in Sedona and the Verde Valley. There are beautiful walking/hiking trails that can be reached right from the park. We were skeptical... Read More

I believe there has been a change in management recently and it seems the goal is to improve the quality of the park. We will be staying here whenever we are in Cottonwood.

Location was good and campground was quiet. However, facility had the overall appearance of a very run down trailer park, not an RV park. Advertised picnic table; there was none. Advertised wifi - could not connect and when we went to the office for assistance, we were told she had to continually reset the router and to try again in 20 minutes and come back if it didn't work. Waited 20 minutes and went back - office closed rest of day at 4:30 in the afternoon. Very run down - seems to have... Read More

Waited 20 minutes and went back - office closed rest of day at 4:30 in the afternoon. Very run down - seems to have many long-timers or permanent residents. Garbage overflowing in dumpster. Men's bathroom looked like someone had had a hair cut in the sink recently. Women's bathroom was clean. We have been campers for many years and are at the tail end of a national park tour and have a lot to compare to. We would never recommend this park. If it were not for the fact that we were 3,000 miles from home and had arranged to meet our friends from Arizona for two nights, we would not have stayed. We do not feel this should qualify as a Good Sam park. Absolutely makes us not want to rely on Good Sam ratings going forward.

We were surprised that Good Sam authorized or certified this place. I would not return. First of all it is not well marked. A large sign off of the highway noted the park but not the entrance. Took us two phone calls and two tries to find the office. The office was not helpful - called to re-ask about entry to baths, to return cable box and to verify password for wifi - never got a return call or answer. Wifi did not work at all. We were shoe-horned into a spot; barely enough room to park... Read More

We were shoe-horned into a spot; barely enough room to park the tow car. Community garden not used. River site barely discernible for weeds and over growth - not a selling point to book a site. Would not invite friends over to sit out and BBQ as it is crowded, dusty, rocky, and not restful!

We checked in on a Thursday. We were told the passwords to the WiFi and the restrooms. Our site was next to the restrooms & showers. The site was clean, level, and ready to occupy. Sounds good, it goes downhill from there. The site was full of ants. The WiFi is there but not powerful enough to use. There's only one restroom/shower for the entire park. Although it was recently remodeled there is still room for improvement. The ladies shower had zero water pressure, my wife said she got... Read More

Sounds good, it goes downhill from there. The site was full of ants. The WiFi is there but not powerful enough to use. There's only one restroom/shower for the entire park. Although it was recently remodeled there is still room for improvement. The ladies shower had zero water pressure, my wife said she got a better bath from a Dixie cup. The men's room was closed for almost a day without any signage explaining why or what to do. Later that evening when we were relaxing we decided to hook up the TV, no cable, the following morning we were given the cable box. That night we got no signal. Our site was on an end which is great but we had no shade, it's not like you can reposition your trailer to put the entrance/awning on the shade side. Our neighbor is a full timer and very nice. They let their dog out on a leash and it was very quite and nice, but they hadn't cleaned up after the dog in quite awhile and to odor wasn't very nice. The office is closed on Sunday's. We were told by full timers that it would open, we waited until 10:30 AM then left. When I called on Monday we were told that they do come to the office to rent ATV's, their side business, but not for the campers. Amenities - They talk about the community garden, yes there is a place for one, the weeds look pretty good. The dog run is overgrown with weeds, their alternative is to tell you to take them to the wild and run free, we took ours to the dog park in town, it was pretty nice. We decided to leave after our third night, we paid for 5 nights and they refused to give a refund for the last two nights.

OK, this is not a premier RV park. I knew this going in and expected as much, so I was not disappointed. So the specifics: Gravel roads, if you park by the river and in the farthest sites, it is a long way to the showers and restrooms, the Wi-Fi did not work in the sites by the river the entire time I was there which was 4 days (told them about it the second day and was told the cable company was supposed to fix it but they never did, was this the truth?, don't know), restrooms were relatively clean,... Cottowood is 15 miles from Sedona and a few short miles from Clarkdale (for train ride) so for me, it was perfect (central to just about anything you want to see around the area). I would stay here again and probably will.

Trashy and unkempt. Far more interested in renting ATVs than keeping up park. Full-time locals fill this park. The rest are those who were fooled by their web site.
