This campground is primarily occupied by year-rounders. It looks like 90% of the sites are long term occupants who have been here for years. They are crowded together and probably haven't cleaned their trailers since they were put in. The first impression, of sites away from the facilities, is that of a tightly packed homeless encampment. If they place you away from the facilities, it can be a long walk to the bathrooms. The bathrooms are clean but: in the first bathroom I went into, the stall... Read More

The bathrooms are clean but: in the first bathroom I went into, the stall was so small, and the door was so close to the toilet, you almost couldn't sit down. Getting up was even more challenging. The second bathroom I tried was a little larger. The showers were clean but there was no place to put your clothes, except on the floor where they would get wet. No bench for sitting down to take off your shoes. No hook to hang clothes. There is no trash pickup. You have to go to the dumpsters which are located outside the gate and down the road. They also don't pick up the coals in the campfire rings. You have to take your coals, yourself, to the coal dump next to the garbage dump, down the road. The roads are washed out and very rough in spots. Most locals have golfcarts to travel the roads, but you can use a bicycle, if you don't mind the bumpy roads. Most, if not all, electric vehicles are prohibited. Even slow-moving tricycles. The speed limit is a strictly enforced 5 mph with some area being defined by the locals as 2.5 mph. The rules indicate, that if you get caught speeding, at say 7 mph, you may be forced to park in a parking area and walk to your site. If your site is away from the facilities, it can be a very long walk. They have a very nice pool area with a large swimming pool and a large kiddy pool. The kiddy pool is about 3 ft deep. A nice playground by the pool and a nice pavilion. The camp store is limited. Nothing in terms of grocery items such as milk, bread, etc. Campsites are assigned 24 hours before you arrive. No choice beforehand so you don't know if you'll be near any facilities, on steep terrain, etc. My site was as far away from the facilities and bathrooms as possible. Tuxbury pond is choked with lily pads with some channels, probably great for fishing. I booked a site for a week, so I received a discounted rate from the daily rate. This was the same discount that would be given to anyone. Good Sam membership really didn't mean anything, unless you stay less than a week. I don't know who rated this campground for Good Sam, but they need to look at it again. I've traveled from New York to California, New York to Florida (several times), and many other places and this is the first time I've been disappointed with the Good Sam rating.

This is my 2nd time visiting Tuxbury Pond. I am so disappointed this year that there are no kids activites during the week, they still have not fixed the refrigeration since it opened this season, there is no manager, and the activities person quit. I have emailed and called Thousands Trails to give them amble time to respond to me. There website shows a beautiful pool with umbrellas and now you have to bring your own. The store hours are until 9 but they close at 5. The staff is doing the best... Read More
