I had stayed seasonally at Association Island for about 4 years approximately 10 years ago. I absolutely love the location and the beauty of the area. I recently purchased a travel trailer and decided to go back. The campground is undergoing a lot of improvements. I’m sure the facilities will be very nice when completed. I arrived 1 hour early and was told my site was ready but would have to pay $10 to check in early. Really?? The staff couldn’t have been more cordial and accommodating.... Read More

They were all extremely pleasant and helpful. I cant say enough about how nice they all were. Now the reason for the low rating - I was one of the few campers without some sort of motorized vehicle. One can easily walk all around the island is less than half an hour - it is not huge. I don’t have a problem with motorized vehicles if some sort of speed limit is enforced. I would rather walk on city streets than the roads in that park. Most were driven by kids or people drinking and speed limits weren’t at all enforced. I was very uncomfortable, especially at nite with all the speeding vehicles. Very disappointed in the lack of respect for other campers. I had previously been in 5 other parks in which all campers were extremely courteous and thoughtful about speed within the park. Even the cars coming in and out were driving too fast. I admit, I’m not happy driving that slowly but do it - campgrounds should be safe places for kids to play and people to walk. The pool - water was cold, the lake was warmer. Beautiful place but will not go back - at least until they start enforcing safety on the park roads.

We arrived after dark and the office had just closed, the roadways could have been lit a little better on the turns. The bath houses were ok and no paper towels. The building which was listed as the activity building was in disrepair and the TV was not working and in pieces. The sites were mostly level for the camper but bellied in between sites, the camper connection area was poorly maintained for your camper connections. Although the people behind the desk were not very accommodating, the folks... Read More

The marina was very nice and well kept if you needed those services. We felt the sites were priced for a much better kept campground, we felt it was overpriced for what you got.

On the water Campsites had beautiful views. Campground well run and clean, the staff helpful. Camper antenna did work better than antenna hook up for TV. WiFi worked but was on slow side. All and all a good experience and I would stay there again.

I was very disappointed after looking at rating and there web site. The grass needed to be cut, bags were blowing around and golf cart rentals were insane. Kids were riding golf cart rentals like idiots and no parental guidance. The people in the office were very nice and helpful. There was also no security riding around at night or day which could have controlled the golf cart use. I will not return but will go back to 1,000 island area which is great

The campground is remote and a little rustic. The sites are close together and the site map is a bit misleading (makes it look larger and grander than it is). We have a 35 ft MH and had a pull in premium site directly on Lake Ontario. The view was wonderful. The check in was smooth and staff was friendly and helpful. Our stay was in the later part of September so the bugs were not as bad as some reviews indicated...after all it is a "rustic" waterfront campground. Hookups were within comfortable... Read More

Hookups were within comfortable distance and posed no problem. Wifi is almost non-existent and TV is limited to about 5 channels...one of which is a 24 hour infomercial station, another has a clear picture but absolutely no sound, another has sound IF volume is put up to 100. These two amenities need upgrading especially in respect to the price for premium sites. We did not experience unkept sites as others mentioned in reviews. The campground appears maintained and provides an outstanding scenic stay. There isn't much to do in the immediate vicinity. Tourist attractions are at least an hour away. The pool was closed for the season so we cannot comment on it nor did we use the restrooms. It is a busy campground and does not guarantee a specific site at reservation time though we did get the site that was "confirmed" in our original reservations. Overall we would recommend this KOA to anyone...especially if you are looking for a place to "hang out". Staff is cordial and seemed readily available and the scenery is worth it.

This campground, which is expensive, has a lot of promise but misses the mark on a few issues. First let me say the setting on Lake Ontario is beautiful. You have to drive up to the island on a one lane road and small bridge which was not a problem. This is a remote location with not much to see or do but that is fine. The staff were nice. Our site was a pull in which faced the water which was nice The number one issue are the bugs. There are millions swarming on the sites. You could not... Read More

You have to drive up to the island on a one lane road and small bridge which was not a problem. This is a remote location with not much to see or do but that is fine. The staff were nice. Our site was a pull in which faced the water which was nice The number one issue are the bugs. There are millions swarming on the sites. You could not walk outside the MH without being swarmed. The bugs did not bite but they were out of control. They literately covered the side of our bus and swarmed the door when it was opened. We spent have our stay killing bugs that flew into our bus. The campground could use some maintenance. Sites along the lake were very close with little or no room in between. They looked poorly kept with more weeds then grass. The weeds were cut but the sites could use some fresh gravel and some grass would be nice. The electric hookups were covered with spider webs and dead bugs. The wifi was poor at best. It was ridiculously slow. Unless you paid a fee you would get thrown off every hour and would have to click a reconnect page to be allowed back on. I paid the fee but still got kicked off every hour. For the camping fees they charge this should be a clean well maintained campground. Other than the view it misses the mark.
