I stayed at the Lancaster/New Holland KOA Journey campground for about 6 weeks. My first time at this campground, I originally planned on staying for 1 month but was fortunate to be able to extend my stay due to a cancellation. I'm a traveling full-time RVer and have stayed at numerous campgrounds in the US, and this one is definitely at the top of my list! Here's why... The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and serene - rolling hills, farmland, amazing sunrises/sunsets, and Amish charm.... Read More

The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and serene - rolling hills, farmland, amazing sunrises/sunsets, and Amish charm. The views from the campsites overlooking the valley are breathtaking! The campground itself is very-well maintained. Water, sewer, and electric were all in good order and reliable. I was there when the remnants of hurricane Ida rolled through, and the very next morning there was a team of staff clearing leaves, rocks, tree branches, etc. By that afternoon, Labor Day vacationers would've never known there was a storm. The dumpsters are located far enough away from campsites and are emptied regularly long before they overflow. Campers are predominantly there for vacations and weekend getaways... lots of evening campfires, grilling, etc., and everyone was very respectful of the other campers. Campsites are quickly cleaned between bookings. The staff and owner of the campground are responsive, incredibly helpful, and happy. There's a great vibe at this campground, and I'm grateful I got to experience it!

This is the WORST KOA experience we have ever had. There's is nothing particularly bad about the facilities. There is very little at the camp ground. The KOA web site says "With so much to do in the Amish countryside we have no planned activities so you can return and enjoy the peace and quiet of the campground" so don't expect anymore than a place to park (electric, water, sewer, cable depending on the site) and in October outdoor pools, spas and club houses are usually closed anyway. We had a back-in site. The angled layout made it an easy one shot back in. The restrooms were 'campy'... average I guess. There is a gate. Your gate card MUST be returned to the office before you leave or a $20 fee applies. Trash goes in the dumpster up near the check-in. Do not leave the bag at your site. I don't believe you receive any credit for hauling your own trash. Guests are $6 per person per day plus $6 per car per day. Make sure you register with the 'Camp Lady' at the desk! Her husband is NOT authorized to take payments! We made this mistake and received a nasty early morning visit from the 'Camp Lady'. She was NOT happy that we had registered with her husband the night before. When my wife told her she had registered the night before she said "well you didn't talk to me!". She marched right back up that hill and I can only imagine the talking that husband must have gotten! Well she found out that he had failed to charge the $6 for our guest's car. Maybe he had thought that since it was already around 9 o'clock at night he would just wave the $6 charge. She was having none of this! She was right back at my door a few minutes later telling us to pony up another six bucks. My wife was a bit shocked and said something about the price the Camp Lady said "Those are the fees maam". As I counted out the money I was annoyed at how RUDE she was but I figured I would be leaving in a couple days but that guy had to endure a life time of the Camp Lady. Mine is not a unique experience. Had I bothered to read reviews before booking I would have avoided the whole thing and gone elsewhere. But it's a KOA and they are usually a safe bet. KOA has the Holiday, Resort and Journey tags. The Lancaster location is just 'KOA'. The owner is an angry person as well as rude and condescending. I feel bad for her. She ruined my stay but I'm home now and I will never see her again. She has to be with herself every day!

Beautiful views, location convenient to many area attractions. However, the owners are touchy. When we arrived, we received the campground map with rules. We were unsure if our elec connection would reach the outlet and took an extension cord out of storage. Left it on the ground, coiled, and forgot to place it back in storage before we left to explore the local attractions. Upon return, there was a note left on our door, with a set of rules and campground name different from what we received. Highlighted... Read More

Upon return, there was a note left on our door, with a set of rules and campground name different from what we received. Highlighted was a rule about using only one outlet and a message about being asked to leave if we attempted to use a second outlet. I proceeded to explore the internet site for this campground and found over a dozen negative reviews on Yelp about the owners poor treatment of guests. I was hesitant to bring my teens back to the site, for fear they may make noise and get us kicked out. This is the only time we've been fearful of management on a campground and felt like we were walking on eggshells. It's a shame.

Polite staff. Beautiful view of the country side, rural location, but centrally located in Pennsylvania Dutch county. Would go back.

Stayed 4 nights 5/19 to 5/23/16. Best campground in the area, looked at 3 others and they are not even close. Staff was friendly and helpful. Sites are full hookup and level. Great views from many sites. Sites range from open to wooded and many have terrific views of the Lancaster countryside. Bathrooms were very clean. Not a lot for kids to do, but when in PA. Dutch country, sightseeing is what you do. We will come back again next year. Great donuts on Friday and Saturday in small farm house bakery... Read More

Also great shopping center 5 miles up 897. One of the nicest campgrounds anywhere.
