We were going to stay 4 nights to see some of the sights in the area but stayed an extra night avoiding the state wide deliberate arbitrary power shutoff. The park is in a rural setting so there isn't much around. It is a short drive from I-505 along a rural 2 lane road in poor condition. The park has 2 newer sections and an older section. The older section is showing its' age. The interior roads are single lane, one way, uneven, with a mixture of paved or gravel surface. The traffic pattern... Read More

The traffic pattern requires loops around the park to get in & out. The turns, road condition and congestion made maneuvering larger RV's a challenge. We arrived during a paving project were the single lane was torn up or closed making getting through the park even more of a challenge. The sites are a mixture of back-ins and pull thrus. The parking pads are gravel/dirt. The P/T sites were not long enough to say connected to a toad so extra vehicles encumbered the road. Distance and grassy areas establish privacy between the sites. They have full hook ups - water, electricity (50/30/20 AMP), & sewer. The water seemed to be softened as it foam so we purchased bottled water for consumption. The utility connections were at the back of the site. The sewer connection was at the ground so it was easy to establish a downhill flow. There was an outside table but no fire pits. There wasn't much turn over as most of the occupants appear to be long term. There were several sites in violation of the park rules. People were wondering through occupied sites. The park's irrigation system was watering the parking pad and road but not the sites' grassy areas. There were quite a few trees scattered throughout the park and around the perimeter so satellite reception would be dependent upon your site and dish configuration. According to the park's brochure there were 43 channels and if the site didn't have cable local channels could be reached with an antenna. Didn't try to get any broadcast channels. The park provided WiFi is Tengo Internet requiring an account to use it. It was password protected. It was adequate for email and travel research. Didn't try streaming. Our Verizon WiFi hotspot worked well. Didn't try the NET10 phone so don't know about cell phone reception. There were two fenced pet areas with a natural surface located in a corner of the park that offered waste collection material. Other waste collection stations around the park were limited. There was sufficient area to walk dogs along the park's roads. TIP: Distance, traffic congestion, road conditions and tourism fees made day trip into San Francisco unpleasant. The Jelly Belly Candy Company factory tour was the highlight of the stay.

We first looked at the Good Sam's book for guidance in finding a park in or near Napa Valley, CA. We found vineyard rv park (proper name but doesn't deserve caps.). It had 10s across the board! We read a few of the reviews and they differed greatly from a 10 rating. We should have trusted the reviews. After setting up, having internet problems (that we had to diagnose for the park), no water (the well pump went out!) and a space to small for our trailer (we had to move the picnic table to open... After setting up, having internet problems (that we had to diagnose for the park), no water (the well pump went out!) and a space to small for our trailer (we had to move the picnic table to open the main slide, even after describing our unit during the reservation. We also could not open the shade due to a tree!) we talked with the office about moving if the water didn't come back on and wanting a refund all they would say was that we would have to talk to the park manager in the morning (which we intend to do.) The park itself is old, gravel and not very well maintained. Come on Good Sam's some of your costumers depend on you for valid information.

Our initial impression was with the front desk woman who was completely rude (and unfortunately was consistently rude the entire stay). She was very short, abrupt and at times condescending. The park is primarily long term folks. There are alot of cars everywhere and many trucks are spilling into the paved roadway. They do try to create parking but there are just alot of vehicles everywhere. Sites vary - the "premium back in" is the newer section, regular back in is tighter, smaller and dirtier.... Read More

Dog run is fairly spacious. We planned to stay for one month however left early. The website does not reflect the actual park.

We were about 1.5 hrs. early (10:30 instead of noon) and the girl got onto us because she "knew she made the reservation and said check-in was at noon!" then proceeded to be rude to us. The slot was ready, but she had to go the extra mile to make us feel bad about our arrival. Someone walked in and asked the other desk clerk for a package and this girl turns her attention to them leaving us standing there without even an 'excuse me.' What has ever happened to customer service with a smile? Check-in... Read More

Someone walked in and asked the other desk clerk for a package and this girl turns her attention to them leaving us standing there without even an 'excuse me.' What has ever happened to customer service with a smile? Check-in left a bad taste then on to maneuver a 40' rig through a tight, gravel road and a space just barely large enough to fit in to. The park is so crowded cars are parked everywhere making it difficult to back in to the cramped slots. The slots are unkept; electrical boxes with wires hanging out and full of spider webs, the water hook-ups are dripping, and sewer pipe open. Bark from the trees everywhere and so dense no satellite signal could penetrate. We couldn't even get antenna reception and, of course, no cable. As I walked around the park, people are so cramped with cars that are 2-3 deep. The slot we were put in backed up to a very busy road that had heavy traffic throughout the night. The chickens roaming the park were on top of our car, so I don't need to remark on the mess there. Fortunately this was just a one night stay!

Tight interior roads. Gravel roads and spaces. Trees blocked satellite reception. Cable TV didn't work. Bathroom was probably 110o. No way deserves its 10 rating.

We stayed at this park for two weeks to explore Napa and Sonoma. The park is very quiet with mostly long term residents who spend several months in the area. The sites are reasonable, but a bit on the short side. The pad is gravel with a small grass area and picnic table for the living area. Small bathroom and shower facility along with a small pool. Wifi support is good. See our full review and pictures at www.thegilliamsisland.com

This was our second stay at this park and we are coming back. There are three areas and it depends on how long you are staying and what you want to pay. We were in the newer area with a back in slot. Restrooms, showers and laundry are across the park and a bit dated. Everything is clean. The office staff is nice and helpful from reservations to checkout. The pull thru slots are closer to the office area and all gravel. Our back in slots had trees, grass, table and fire pit. There are plants... Read More

Restrooms, showers and laundry are across the park and a bit dated. Everything is clean. The office staff is nice and helpful from reservations to checkout. The pull thru slots are closer to the office area and all gravel. Our back in slots had trees, grass, table and fire pit. There are plants between some slots in this newer area. The park is in the process of preparing for future expansion so the lake area is fenced off, no fishing. There are many long term residences, but that had no impact on our enjoyment of our visits. There is an off leash area for the dogs to run. We didn't make use of the pool or playground area. Some of the showers are in a separate module shower unit. The grass was green even with the CA drought, which has now ended. The pond is kept irrigated to reduce any mosquito growth. There was algae on the pond, but no odors, even during our summer visit. Many of the interior roads are gravel and can be a bit rough. Some of the best things about this park are the ease of access from either 505 or 80 and the multitude of eateries just south at the junction of 505 and 80. The Buckhorn restaurant is highly recommended as is the Nugget grocery store. Drive up propane is available on site.

Left early. Dirty and messy rv park. Park pictures on the site must be very old.
