Dusty, narrow, and unlevel sites. Dirt roads. Store has very few supplies. We had a back in site and next to us was a pull through. This put our front doors just a few feet apart. No patio space. Wi fi weak. The main thing this park has goin for it is that it is close to the National park. Mountain View’s are nice. When we made our reservations in January this was the only place in Estes available.

Very disappointed in this RV Park All sites seem to be un-level, you WILL have to use blocks under your jackpads in order level your rig. Some sites are cramped between sites. The park needs to level these sites. Also entry/exit to sites has big dips that will rock your rig left to right in order to enter or exit due to entry roads on an uphill slope. The park needs to take care of the weed and critter (squirrel, voles?) problem there are so many they are creating underground holes that can twist... Read More

The park needs to put down some gravel on roads and sites, as the roads are very dusty, and during rains they wash out due to slope of roads between sites. Overall VERY disappointed in this park, for the price you pay. (tourist town)

The proximity to the entrance of RMNP and Estes Park are what make this a great spot. A quick 10-15 min bike ride and you can be inside the park or downtown Estes. Campsites have nice picnic tables at each site. However, this RV resort is more a spot to rest between activities in the area and not as a much a place to unwind and relax on its own. In many of the spaces, you will have an RV within 5 feet behind your trailer and only about 15’ between the two campers on your right and the two trailers on your left. Campsides face each other on the diagonal so you and your neighbors will not have much privacy. If your neighbors are not a match for you and your family, your experience could be negatively impacted. The roads and sites throughout are dirt and worn gravel. Best sites. Rows A and G are likely the best as they are in the perimeter of the property and have no campsites behind them. Row G has unobstructed views of RMNP. Row A has a very large amount of grass behind each site. If you like trees, they are limited to Row F. Pull throw sites in E1-E9, D1-D11, C1-C11, and B1-B5 are also good.

This is the most expensive RV park we've stayed at, and to be honest, the only thing justifying that is location. Right behind our row of RVs (Row A, on the edge of the park) was the road into Rocky Mountain National Park. We were a 5 minute drive from our lot to the Beaver Meadows gate into the park. So that was GREAT! And Estes Park is pretty small, so we were near to everything (including the outstanding Rock Cut Brewery!). Electric worked great. Water pressure was solid (our gauge had... So that was GREAT! And Estes Park is pretty small, so we were near to everything (including the outstanding Rock Cut Brewery!). Electric worked great. Water pressure was solid (our gauge had us at about 44). And despite the entire park being on a bit of a gentle hillside, our gravel lot was level enough that we didn't need to use any leveling blocks, which is always a win in my book! Folks were friendly there. There are a couple of decent looking playgrounds (no kids with us) and there's even a mini-golf course, which we never got to try. The park is still mostly just dirt and gravel. It's a bit dusty, therefore. And the sites are really close together. If we had put out our awning, it might have touched the rig parked next to us! So we weren't thrilled with that. For the money, we sure got a tiny amount of space. So, in summary: great location and utilities that work with little effort. But tight space and not overall a very attractive park (although honesty, the views of the mountains around the park are pretty sweet). We'd stay here again due to the location...but the price is tough to take.

This used to be a friendly place to stay. Now horrible policy and lack of maintenance have taken over. The Wi-Fi was poor at best. Checking in 5 minutes early would have cost $25. The owners don’t trust their staff. E were lectured at arrival about how they can’t do anything. It is the computer’s fault. That is poor. The computers only do what the owners want. We disagree with their policy. We voiced it, and had to listen to grumbling r the 5 minutes. Could have been hand better. This park is expensive... Read More

We used every block we had to get our camper level. We also saw many with whole sides of tires 6-8 inches off the ground. Don’t stay here.

Not really a park so much as a parking lot. A dirt parking lot. Space was wide enough but it had a major drop off on one side that left just enough (sort of) level room to park the trailer. It looked like it might have had gravel surface at one time but most of the gravel was gone so it was mostly just dirt. Stepping out of the trailer was hazardous due to the steep slope on that side. It was faster to turn it off and just use the phone's data plan. Couldn't even log in to get email. CAUTION!!! The payment policy for this park is draconian. When we made the reservation they asked for a full 50% deposit. The deposit is non-refundable. If disaster stikes and you cannot make the trip they keep it all. The do offer to "escrow" the deposit for up tp a year in case you can reschedule but even then they want a healthy "fee" to reschedule. Not really what I've come to expect from a Good Sam park.

The ground around the site was riddled with ground squirrel holes which made it dangerous to walk anywhere to the side of the site. The park was so dusty that a dust devil came through the first day and nocked everything over and some items took off with the wind. The wifi is non existent and the TV cable does not work. On the positive side, the bathrooms are in good shape along with the showers, but the 2 regular showers were smaller than the shower in our small trailer. The location is wonderful to go into the Rocky Mountain National Park. Just 2 miles from the entry. We don't like to give negative reviews but we will not be staying here again.

The roads are dirt, the sites are dirt. The wind coming off the mountain blows the dirt up into the air where it becomes a big dust storm. Dirt everywhere! (2) Un-level pads, this park... Read More

(1) Dust, some parks are so dusty that even after just a couple nights your unit needs a bath, welcome to Dustville USA! During the summer months this place dries-up and becomes dustville. The roads are dirt, the sites are dirt. The wind coming off the mountain blows the dirt up into the air where it becomes a big dust storm. Dirt everywhere! (2) Un-level pads, this park is situated on a hillside and all sites are terraced. All tires on the drivers side of our unit were up off the ground. Is it that difficult to level a site and add some gravel? Big RV's with, or without, an automatic leveling system need a good level gravel pad. Are the owners of this park unaware of the damage an unlevel site does to an RV? If you are just staying one or two nights on an un-level site the damage is minimal to window seals, but if you stay longer, the window seals start to stretch and pull which is how you get fogged glass. We give this park 0-stars in this category. (3) We live in the age of WIFI technology and there is nothing to stop any RV Park across this country from investing in doing WIFI properly. This park receives 5-stars for their great WIFI. (4) Maneuverability, some parks have very narrow roads which make backing up and turning very difficult, we found this park to have plenty of room to maneuver. (5) Satellite, as you know satellite reception is very hard to receive when you have large trees. If you stay away from the sites with the tall trees to the south you should receive reception here. (6) Phone Service, we have AT&T which worked great here. (7) Dog play and potty, plenty of room to walk your dog here, plus there's an off-leash fenced dog area. Bonus: The view here is absolutely gorgeous and makes it worth putting up with the horrible flying dust. The park is surrounded by beautiful mountains that still have snow on them during the month of August. The proximity to the interesting town of Estes Park is another plus.

This review is from a recent experience at the Elk Meadows Lodge and RV Resort located in Estes Park, Colorado. We had previously stayed at this resort and were hoping to recap some pleasant memories from the past. Not to be so. We had a family gathering of 3 families and chose to have an RV site as well as an adjoining cabin. We arrived and set up camp, enjoyed a fun family evening and then set off to bed. That is when it all went south. The cabin was overrun by bedbugs and mites. Our 1 and 3 year old granddaughters were covered and were of course scared and upset. Their parents too now clearly were experiencing similar issues with the bugs. Literally, there were so many, they were climbing the walls. At 3:30 in the morning, there was no alternative but to take the family to the bathhouse, strip them clean of all infested garments, bathe them, and then find alternative clothing. EVERYTHING in the cabin had to be removed, cleaned, or washed to attempt to rid the family and possessions of these horrible parasites. Of course, we needed some help and immediately called the "Emergency" number listed on our check-in materials. What? No answer. Let's try again. VOICE MAIL? Yes, this was the response from the emergency number. Six attempts later, we finally got a reply. The reply came with sympathy but no support. "Stop by in the morning after 8:00 and we will see what we can do." Are you kidding me? This is how they handle an emergency? Just think... So the next morning, I was given some change to wash/dry our clothes and the cabin was refunded as it was non-usable. Washing clothes took the better part of the morning as everything needed to be cleaned. So much for our Estes Park plans. Following the washing session, we decided as a family that the ten of us could not stay in the trailer and that we would have to go home. We were offered a Tee-Pee as a compensation for the bugs. Understand you have to have your own bedding? Oh that's right, it was full of bugs from the cabin. Their reply "We have some old sleeping bags that someone left". Their solution. I asked for an obvious refund. Their maintenance issue had caused us to leave. No word from the owner. They replied, "Well, he is in the canyon and can't be reached." For what it's worth, cell service is strong throughout the canyon and front range. Well, he is in meetings and asked not to be bothered. (I guess we are a bother when his cabins are full of bugs). We NEVER had a chance to discuss the issue with him. The staff also, refused to communicate with us for the next several days as we tried to move the process forward for a possible refund and compensation for lost items. We had to leave our "Pak-N-Play" for obvious reasons. Again the management's reply "Well, we emailed him and left a voice message".. Little effort on the part of the staff but NO EFFORT from the owner. How sad. One begins to see why the reviews are so low. I asked to talk to the owner. Finally, we have had to go through our credit card company to protest this charge. As of today, there has been NO RESPONSE from Elk Meadows as well. Thank goodness for the support we received from the card company. Things happen. I understand that. But it is how businesses respond that makes them poor, good, or great. Sadly we experienced how "POORLY" Elk Meadows handles situations. They don't. Take this for what it is. You may enjoy your stay there but understand if you have issues, you may be on your own. You decide on your next trip. There certainly are other choices as well as the National Park. Read the other reviews and I am guessing you may make other choices. I know we are done with Elk Meadows and will certainly network with other RV'rs as we can. Signed, What bugs me

Only one issue, F-18 isn't that level, had my front wheels off the ground with blocks under levelers to get it level. Place is located a mile from the Rocky Mountain National Park, need to have an Access Pass. Disabled Vets can get a free pass, just show park ranger your I'D and VA disability rating letter. When I asked why there would be no refund when THEY cancelled she said "It's not our fault that it snowed" I told her that it was DEFINITELY not my fault and I should not be penalized as I was on my way there. They wouldn't budge and were very rude. Good Sam should probably remove them from their status as they are not a good representative of where to stay in Colorado, nor a good example to be linked to with this club.

This campground is very close to Rocky Mountain National Park. That is where the positives end, though. We arrived in late June to learn that 2 of the three bathhouses were closed. They have 3 restrooms for the whole campground, which was not near enough. The sites are cut into a hillside, so I do expect that they won't be 100% level, but our site was far from level and so narrow we could only place our picnic table either in front of or behind the coach. They had 6 port-a-potties for people to use, which I refuse to use. Also, the wifi is unusable. They said that a contractor was supposed to have the remodel of the 2nd bathhouse done by June 1st, but we arrived around the 25th and it was not touched during our 4 night stay. They did charge the full price though for our stay despite the inadequacies of the campground. We will NEVER stay here again. Ever.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Restrooms clean. Internet terrible. Was not able to send or read email. If you need internet, don't stay here.

We stay here in July for an extended stay a week or more . We stayed in a 40 foot a class . We absolutely loved this park. very pet friendly nice dog run, clean pool, bathhouses were clean, staff friendly and helpful. Bad side!!! which could not be helped, there was a state wide burning ban!!! Understandable!! so no open fires but we could use our gas grill. Windy another thing that the camp ground could not help so no canopies or pop up tents due to them flying around and the possibilities of... Read More

We unfortunately stayed at this campground for five nights, only because all the other campgrounds were sold out. The people at the desk were extremely rude both times I was in the office. We were excited to just get a new camper with a big rear window and what we saw out the window was another camper a few feet away!! That camper had its awning out and it nearly hit the camper next... We were excited to just get a new camper with a big rear window and what we saw out the window was another camper a few feet away!! That camper had its awning out and it nearly hit the camper next to it so don't bother with awnings--there is no room. It was the worst campsite we have ever had in our 30+ years of camping with very close campers on each side and the back!! I went to the office the next morning and asked if we could change since there were empty campsites and she started yelling at me! She eventually did move us (very reluctantly!) to a pull through site that was better since we had no one behind us and there was more room on the sides. However, there are no paved roads in the campground and the wind was blowing so it was constant dust. We love to sit out while we camp but we never even got our chairs out because of the dust. All in all, it was a terrible experience!

Elk Meadow is not an RV "resort", but rather is nothing more than a campground for short and long term camping although it is close to Rocky Mountain National Park. The women in the registration office were curt bordering on rude. The Park entrance, roads, and sites are gravel on top of dirt, and is dusty when RVs and vehicles drive through the park. Most of the sites were built on sloping terrain. The sites are very un-level making it virtually impossible to level any RV, and the women in the... Read More

However, the cable TV reception is very good, and the WiFi signal is strong. I would choose to stay at another RV park nearby before I would stay at Elk Meadow again.

This is no more than a poorly maintained gravel parking lot with a view. Sites are tilted, rutted and generally require lots of ramping and leveling. The main bathrooms and showers have been closed for at least six months for 'renovations', the cable TV doesn't work, the desk help is surly, and the price is outrageous at $65. Good Sam needs to look hard at this place and at the reviews. Also, I was asked for my driver's license when paying. The desk "help" said is was because of Homeland Security,... Read More

It was like camping in a dust bowl. Restrooms out of order, garbage dumpsters were full, grassy areas overgrown and not cut. It says it has a store and that consists of firewood and ice. Charged 5.00 per day for the extra vehicle in tow. They need to level the campsites. I would pick another place to stay next time.

2 2 out of 5 stars 06/05/2016

Very disappointed for the money. Should be named "dust bowl park". Facilities are dated and in need of renovations. Not clear if anyone is managing this park. Definitely not a "resort". WiFi is an over-statement. Not good value for the money. Only redeeming quality are the vistas.

Let me start with the positive: We stayed in the TeePees and they were really fun. The camp ground is beautiful. And the pool opened like they advertised. Negative: 1.I asked when I made the reservation and again when I was checking in if the teepees were waterproof. The receptionist and the man showing us our site assured me they were-even though there is a BIG hole in the top! Negative: 1.I asked when I made the reservation and again when I was checking in if the teepees were waterproof. The receptionist and the man showing us our site assured me they were-even though there is a BIG hole in the top! Sure enough it rained while we were gone site seeing and when we came back my husbands pillow and sleeping bag were really WET! And it got really cold that night-not a fun combo. I understand they are authentic, but I feel like they should let their customers know there is a chance rain can get in so we can arrange the TP accordingly if rain is forecasted. 2.I don't understand how in the beginning of camping season and paying holiday rates they don't have the bathrooms up and working! To only have one working bathroom for the entire campsite-and its CLEAR across the park was a pain. 3. We were told we would have water at our site-and didnt. We asked and the guy said he would turn it on-but it wasn't on Friday thru Monday. 4.Another minor complaint is that they charge a high rate to stay in the TP-yet they charge you a DOLLAR to play mini golf!?! They can't include that in the price to stay at the camp ground? There were rocks all over the course and poop in all the holes. UMM gross-we had no bathrooms or running water to wash our hands!. So Im not sure what the fee goes to. 5. The wifi was broken too when we got there. I'm not normally one to complain, but I feel like these are worthy enough to be made aware of. We tried to talk to someone in the office first, but they didnt seem to care. When charging higher holiday rates I expect more from the site. I also feel like they should be more honest and warn ppl about the chance of rain getting in the teepees instead of saying they are 100%waterproof.

No landscaping. Nothing attractive about this campground. Not a place we wanted to sit outside due to the dust and noise from the nearby road. The management needs to attend to maintenance, appearance, and site conditions. We have been travelling seven months, stayed in dozens of campgrounds, rely extensively on Good Sam, and were very disappointed. All this for a rate 50% higher than almost every campground we stayed in for the entire trip.

Many rigs departed with us on Sunday. We asked if we could depart at noon rather than 11 and were told for $25 we could stay until 2pm. This campground just wants money. No customer service. They need to do some grading to level the tiered sites and then re-gravel. Seems the owner is just taking profit and not re-investing. VERY unhappy with our stay. Staff apologetic but owner could care less.

Save your money. They will not give any refunds, at all. Way over priced. At 65 per night,,, never again. I was told, they charge extra just for you to grill a burgar, to have a pet, even if a friend comes to visit. Did not enjoy stay.

The campground is at a great location only 1 mile to the entrance of RMNP. The staff was great and very friendly and always has entertainment on Friday and Saturday . Very large sites and the restrooms / showers are very clean . The campground has a swimming pool and above ground hot tub . Had a great stay there and will go back in the future.

We were very disappointed in the campground. The bathrooms that were in the middle of the camp ground were not open. We also had to pay extra to have our motorcycle. We have camped in many states without a charge for a motorcycle. We have stayed here before and had a better experience. We stayed in a rv in a pull through site.

Read More
